Full stack software engineer / San Diego, CA

Bob Tabrizi

I build React and TypeScript interfaces, the Java and Node services behind them, and the tooling that helps teams ship with confidence.

01Projects

Things I've designed and built on my own time, from idea to something people actually use.

01 / Real-time web app

Agility

Shared rooms for agile teams: planning poker, polls, anonymous feedback, and fair ways to pick who goes next.

  • Anyone can open a room and share a link or QR code. Everyone sees the same activity live over Socket.IO, with no accounts needed.
  • Room data lives behind a swappable storage layer (in memory or DynamoDB), with versioned writes so votes cast at the same moment never overwrite each other.
  • Ships as one Node server behind Caddy on AWS EC2, with health checks, graceful restarts, rate limiting, and CI in both GitHub Actions and Jenkins.

Next.js · TypeScript · Socket.IO · DynamoDB · AWS EC2 · Docker · Vitest · GitHub Actions

02 / Web app

Hello World

Explore the music of any country on Earth, no Spotify login required.

  • A custom REST API gathers and stores playlist data from Spotify endpoints so countries can be searched and browsed quickly.
  • Every track plays through the YouTube Data API, so anyone can listen without signing in to Spotify.

Next.js · Node.js · Express · MongoDB · AWS Lambda · AWS S3

02Experience

  1. 2025–Now

    Booz Allen Hamilton

    Senior Software Engineer

    • Moved the front end build from Webpack 4 to Vite, cutting build times by about 30%.
    • Built support tooling with Docker and AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB).
    • Built a cross-VM end-to-end test suite with Robot Framework and Selenium.
    • Scrum Master for a nine-engineer team.
  2. 2021–2025

    G2 Software Systems

    Full Stack Software Engineer

    • Led a team of 3–5 engineers across a React front end and Java Spring back end.
    • Designed and built Spring REST endpoints for customizable data management.
    • Led a full UI redesign with the client, from wireframes to production.
    • Architected API mocking with Mock Service Worker for end-to-end UI testing.
  3. 2019–2020

    UC San Diego IT Services

    ITS Lead Technician

    • Built internal web tools for the IT department while finishing my degree.

03About

Front end or back end, my favorite part of the job is that there's always something new to build.

Lately that means React and TypeScript interfaces on top of Java Spring services, plus the tooling around them: faster builds, better tests, and smoother releases. I've led small teams, run Scrum for larger ones, and enjoy mentoring engineers who are newer to a codebase.

I studied Computer Science and Mathematics at UC San Diego and still call San Diego home. Outside of work I keep building side projects, one of which grew to more than ten thousand users.
